hitch ball socket and wrench size?
the model i got is the one that the dealer sells... the 2" ball and tongue with pin and clip. Its a drawtite starter pack sold through bmw and the sticker on it says to torque it to 250 ft-lbs... yikes... |

It is pouring rain and past midnight, and the X5 is outside. If you still need the socket size in the morning I will get it and post then. I also bought the BMW hitch ball and bracket.
Yes, it was 250 ft-lbs. Yes, I torqued it to that. However, I did cheat and drop by my brother's shop, just for that one nut.

Well, mine is 1 7/16", which just seems silly. I don't know if that is a common size in that range. I originally borrowed the socket and a big torque wrench from my brother's repair shop, so it is possible that he had a 1 7/16" or possibly we used a 1 1/2" six point, which probably would work fine. Yours should be the same, but they could have put a hitch ball from anywhere in there, so it probably would be safer to measure it. Good luck.
