Transmission Pump Shaft..
I am told that part is cracked and needs to be replaced. Could anybody verify that such a part exists. I could not find it by searching, is there another name? Is it possible to see it on realoem?
Thanks, Ozzie..

The transmission oil pump is driven by a sleeve welded into the torque converter impeller. You can see that the slots engage in the two dogs in the oil pump rotor to drive it :
![]() ![]() I wouldn’t call this a transmission pump shaft though – sounds like they’re describing something else. The torque converter impeller is sometimes referred to as a ‘pump’ too. Can you find out any more information? Phil |

Hey Phil,
I am sure you are aware of my ongoing transmission issues (you once diagnosed as Clutch A problem). After they opened up the transmission twice they could not find anything. So it went to another guy and he is saying that the transmission pump shaft is cracked. Briefly, car is fine until it warms up, then when I come to a stop and step on the gas, it wont move and eventually would go into TRANS FAIL SAFE with a big kick. There was also chain slippage inside T-CASE which is replaced. Not sure if that part would cause those issues (could the pump leak thru a shaft and lose pressure?) but I am promised that my car would be good as new once thats done.. Cheers, Ozzie..

Yes, I completely agree with myself - that sounds like an A-clutch leakage problem
![]() A dead giveaway would be if the transmission failed safe to 5th gear rather than the default 4th gear while the message is being displayed. Sorry, I don't know what he means by the transmission pump shaft. Phil |

Lol. I completely agree with myself!
Turquoise, I thought they said it was a drum that was cracked. Well that's what I remember from the other post. Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express |

Update : Good news so far! I got the car back today, they said after testing the transmission with some type of paint to see where it leaks (which was supposed to be done in the first place 6 months ago, I guess). They saw the leakage was between torque converter and the pump thru some sort of shaft? They replaced the torque converter and the pump all together (Shaft as well, or its just attached to the pump). Today I drove the car for couple of hours and no problems! So I am about the believe that its done..
Thanks again for the input from everybody.. Ozzie..
