Window gets stuck down?

Went out with the wife last night. She went to roll her window up and nothing. I pulled over and noticed the window moves about an inch and the outside door handle moves like the window is hiting it? I pulled the door panel, gave the window a push while holding the button and it went up fine. I rolled the window down only to get stuck again. Goes back up when I give it some help. Something is binding at the bottom. I did a search here and there were several threads about the same exaxt complaint but no one has posted their solution.
Does this sound like it might be the window regulator or the plastic clips?
Thanks

I had a similar problem and the culprit was the plastic grommet that held the glass to the regulator ... see http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ugh-glass.html. It might be the same your case.

Same thing happened to my passenger window last summer, it would get stuck if I rolled it all the way down. I didn't have time to screw around with it and since I ride in mine by myself 99.9% of the time, I rolled it up and disconnected the power connection...lol!!

I found the problem. The plastic clip is broken and glass is loose or disconnected from the bracket just like Squeasel said. Dont know if I should try the clip for $5 or just get the regulator assy.

Buy the clip only if the cable works fine.
