Bmw 2001 x5 window motors, all the same or different ones for different windows?

Hi guys, the motor has gone in the drivers window and i need to replace it but im not having alot of luck finding the drivers side motor. Are all the motors the same or are each different?

thanks Jon

my wife has just called me to say the passange side window has now dropped and is hidden inside the door? when she pressed the button the window doesnt move at all. I now think(hope) it might not be the motor but maybe a fuse. Its just a bit weird how two have gone in a few days of each other. I took the drivers side window apart and checked the regulator and it looks fine ( i had todo the rear window last year) So i took the regulator out and just tried the motor and the motor didnt work although all three other switches move the windows up and down. what do you guys think?

motors on these windows do fail but it is not happening that often... what happens, is a plastic clip desintegrates over time and fails, and the glass gets stuck inside the door or falls into the door, and then, when you try to move the glass, the cable gets tangled up, and puts too much stress onto the motor, and then the motor fails...

Usually, the front left and rear right motors are the same, and front right and rear left are the same too...

Before running the motor to see if it works or not, pull the panel (there are many write-ups about it), and see if the plastic clip (about $2 from a dealer) is there... Even if it is there, it might be time to have them replaced, might even consider replacing the ones that have not failed yet...

If the cable has tangled up beyond repair, try to get a regulator off ebay, they come without motor - test your own motors (without the glas load) to see if the work, and just reuse the motors...

Chances are: the motors are fine, and the regulators are done.

Yea there is actually a fuse for front pass window, front driver window, and rear windows. So you might have a blown fuse.

Now, in my car currently, the motor in my pass front window, is from the drivers side front. It will fit, but it flips the connection, so you need to make your wires longer, and it will fit. When making the wires longer, you should flip them too. Yes I did this because it was free. I also have a duct tape tag on that wire with a note so that whoever opens that up, knows the crap I did. It might be me though, because the motor I got is slower than my drivers window. So I am sure it only has a few years till it dies.
