Talking Communist X5

Is there a way to stop the doors from locking after you drive off? Just started my E53 life form E32 land. Thanks

E32 was not as computer intensive as the E53... The Drive-Away feature (doors single lock when speed exceeds 16km/h, or other designated speed points) is relatively nice feature, if you have kids in the back seat and don't use the kid-safety lock feature...

Like many other features in the car, this one can be programmed to be off, or on - but the programming requires a trip to a dealer or a friend who has the software and the hardware to connect to the car...

While programming (outside of the dealers' network), you may ask to have the audio gong when the key is left in ignition to be turned off, the seat belt gong to be turned off (the icon in the cluster will still be there), the fog lights to stay on while the high beams are on, the side windows to auto roll up and down with the doors open A dealer will not reprogram some of those features as it is against their policy, they will change your lock/unlock programming...

Oh, by the way, we only know that you have an E53 - put in your signature line some specifics of your car, like the year, the engine size, any mods that you may have done to the car... Helps us in narrowing down on some solutions for listed problems, as different engine sizes and option packages may behave differently...

Welcome to the forum, before spending any money on the X5, check here first, there might be a solution here that would save you a chunk of change!!!

Wow, thanks for your help. Carputers are evil. Last one I messed with was the trans on my 87 745 Euro. I lost that one but the engine found a good home. I'll see if a local CCA guy may have what I need. Thanks again, I'll update the profile as you suggested.
