Is your blower wheel noisier in winter

Can't ever recall the blower wheel being a touche noisy in the winter. We have been hit with `bombgenesis` out here. I checked out the car, when my wife came home and even after a good 1 1/2 hr drive, there is a slight squeaky wheel on low blower speed.

What's slightly weird is I tried duplicating this myself twice already, and once, I got the noise at high blower speed, but not slow......but then it went away completely, and the car was not even driven much.

On the second time, the squeak would not go away at all.....

Oh well, signs of due time...

Mine makes noise when its 30 degrees or colder on 1/4 or slower blower speed.

Made no noises till the cold set in.

Mine started making noise after we got below 20F. The replacement looks time consuming. I’ll wait till warmer weather maybe. Any recommendations on quality affordable replacements?

I think I paid about $145 or so for a Valeo fan. The Febi version is a few bucks less, but probably just as good.

Mine didn't make noise, it just stopped spinning. A well placed whack on the center of the dash usually managed to get it running again. Until it didn't, lol. The brushes are spring loaded and eventually wear a deep groove into the commutator; so deep that they eventually stop making contact.

I think it took me about 14 hours to replace the fan, but I was methodical about labeling hardware, making notes and cleaning connections. I also wrapped anything that might rattle in felt and lined the flat areas with Dynamat. A pro could likely do it in about half that time. Worst part is removing the center console; which doesn't actually need to be removed, just released from where it mates to the the dash.

My Indie quoted 7+ hrs for the fan R&R, fwiw...still pricey.
He said he hates doing them.

Also, there are a few posts floating around here about a 'fix' with a long hemostat and a lubed cue tip type 'bush fix' to the brush or spinner, that supposedly works and gives much additional life vs the open chest surgery normal procedure...

Can't find the post(s).

Started blower wheel on car when it was warm - aka, driven 10 miles in 10 degree weather with no heat. With the blower on low-high, NO noise at all for a good while. Then it's as if once the wheel got *working*, the squeak came back So odd.

Some nuances I've been observing -

another post on our heated jet nozzles
- Horn would not work until a 20 mile drive. I could hear the relay clicking....eh, maybe it's in rush cold weather and or horns on it's way out
