Post pictures of your 4.8is pulling a boat!

I have a friend of mine that bought my 04 4.8is.

Has the hitch etc. But thinks he can't pull a boat of the 5-6k variety.

I saw a few pictures on site but thought it might be interesting to see a bunch of towing pictures in one place.

Thanks in advance.

I saw a guy doing just that in a 4.4i on the belt parkway no less. I gave him the honk of respect.

EXCELLLLLENT.......with Mr. Burns accent

If he still wants to get a silly old Dodge I will help him post the X up here but It will be a big mistake on his part. An 04 Estoril X5 4.8is is kinda rare and with low miles etc. But people are odd sometimes

I havent officially weighed it, but I calculate my boat/trailer combo with 50 gallons gas, cooler and some misc at about 5200lbs.

Previously towed with a 1/2 Chev pickup. The pickup struggled. My X5 actually has a higher tow rating by 300lbs.

The air suspension is wonderful! Levels the load instantly when hitching up and keeps the vehicle level. I can accelerate as fast towing as any average vehicle without a trailer. No sway or feeling of trailer overpowering the X5 at all.

I shift it in manual mode however, as the transmission automatically compensates for the load, but I dont like how long it holds the shift points. I shift at 3k RPM and get 12-14 MPG.

Simply put, its a FANTASTIC tow vehicle. Not many vehicles out there with the pedigree of the 4.8is coupled with the towing capability.

Likewise! 65k miles on her now. She's in the service center getting some warrantly work done today. CV boot, nav screen, sliding cargo floor roller, steering wheel. She's perfect! If I didnt have to tow though, she'd be a 550i.
