Thank you all for the kind welcome messages.

I will post some pics of my X5 as soon as I install the Bull Bar I just ordered. I can't wait to put that on! For now, I posted 1 pic of my truck from the dealer's lot in the Gallery.
Two quick questions:
1. My 2002 X5 4.4i does not have those "headlight squirters" seen on most. Was that an option, or an "opt-out" option?
2. I have a great Escort S2 solo cordless radar detector I just got for my 1 year anniversary from my wife (she asked what I wanted, and that's what I said. Who wants jewelry anyway?). I used it in my Benz which had a large dark area behind the rear view mirror on the windshield. It was totally hidden and worked great. My problem now is that I can't find a good spot in the X5 to put it. Anywhere on the windshield reveals two large suction cups to the outside world. That looks terrible. I was considering just placing it on the dash when I would use it, but then I would have to keep putting it away when I park. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Don

Welcome! Regarding your comment about the radio...I know MB installs some damn decent Bose systems in their cars. But since BMW is the ultimate driving machine, it kind of lacks on the sound part. Don't feel too bad - the difference between the stock and DSP audio in the X5 is not great. I also am living with a stock-radio 02 4.4i.

The headlight washers were part of a package, or you could get them as a stand-alone option. So I guess youhave neither. Don't worry - you won't depleet (spelling?) your washer fluid that quick.

Some people have mounted their radar detectors in the front ashtray located just next to the Step shifter. But I think they had V1s, which were small enough to fit.

I have seen his truck in person and it's in awesome condition. Now if I can just avoid getting run over by NervX5 in my work parking lot as he blast out with a big grin on his face.
Now that bull bar will look seriously good when installed and will seriously damage anything it hits. :p

Thanks for the information. I actually don't really care for the headlight washers anyway. I was just curious why I didn't have them.
As for the stereo, you appear correct about not much difference between stock and the DSP. I've been reading all over trying to find out info, and haven't seen a single post that raves about the DSP.
For the radar detector, it looks like I'll just use one of those sticky pads on the dash for now. Better yet, cut the sticky pad to size, then velcro it to the detector itself. That way I don't leave the sticky pad on the dash.
Thanks again.

Thank you. Actually, there is a place in NJ that sells them on ebay. Chrome only though. I had to order a black one from autofrills.com. To see what the chrome looks like, on ebay, just search: X5 Bull Bar. 1 listing should still be there. It's a bolt on, not through the bumper.
I'm in northern NJ. Passaic County, for now.
