Anyone know the cost to fix bad valve seals

I did a search & couldn't find a cost on it, anyone with this information would be appreciated.

You can figure roughly $2K - $5K. Depending on which motor you have and if all of the other components are ok, the price can fluctuate greatly. Labor time can be anywhere from 8 to 16 hours depending on the tech. I think the book says 12 hours. I recall seeing it somewhere but am not sure. JCL would have a much better and concise answer.

It's a 2005 4.4 if that helps.

Yea, then the price stands. You can also call the dealer and ask an SA to give you an estimate and do the same with the indy and then compare.

Book time on the job says 18.5 hours for one head 19.5 for the other. Thats nearly 40 hours!

But, from what I have heard, the seals normally fail because the valve guides are worn, allowing too much side to side movement and would prematurely wear out the seals again.
So, basically it becomes a full valve job with guides and all.
But, you could just get the valves done and risk needing to do it all over again and then some.

Depending, on how many miles on the car, you might be abale to get the dealer to goodwill part of the job... My GF dealership got BMW to goodwill several thousand dollars on a valve seal job on a 2004 6 series with 80K

How do you know it's a lady who they gave that to? His GF works at the dealer
Be very courtious and nice when talking to BMW NA Rep. They dont have to do it but your attitute might make them willing to. Also, service record at the $tealer would help too. GL

It was a guy they gave it to.

What TMV says is very helpful... they want to help their brand loyal customers so that they keep buying BMWs and say nice things about BMWs to people they know
