Intermittent Battery Drain
Hello. I own a 03 X5 4.4 sport. Ever since I replaced my oem battery with an autozone exact replacement I have had intermittent dead battery. The first replacement I bought started doing the same thing after a few months and leaked acid everywhere. Second was good for awhile but still had the random drain. The battery will be at approx. 6-7v by the morning when it does drain. Only happens a couple times a month or so. Lately more. Its hard to check for a draw when it isnt all the time. I read a lot about the FSR being a known problem but the ac/heat cluster seems to always work great. Could this still be my problem if operation is ok? I am trying to exhaust all possibilty's before I call the dealer. thanks in advance

Bump. anyone. I think I might try the FSR. My girl who drives the car daily said the heat/ac cluster goes crazy sometimes.

FSR is cheap and easy to fix...and will probably go out on you at some point.

FSR has been known to cause a parasitic drain. I mean it is probably time to replace it anyways. Hopefully that works.
