Oil change interval 3.0?

The Bentley says to change the oil when the service indicator lights say so but for "engine longevity" cut that in half. So does that mean 15,000 mile OCI with BMW long life oil? I'll be using Mobil 1 this time what does everyone think? I did a search and came up with very little.

Is anybody really running their oil run for 15k let alone 30k as the manual says?

i dont even do that in my old jeep.

someone once told me that frequent oil/filter changes were less expensive than engine rebuilds, and that fresh oil is the life blood of a turbo diesel so for me its cheap insurance to change the oil frequently

I would bet there are some/several/many going 15k+...
No manual I have read says '30k'.

Use Search Tab, upper right center of every page...plug in oil change.
See pages of Threads on 'when to change oil', 'how often to change oil',
'what brand of oil', 'viscosity', etc. Topics are well covered with opins and anecdotes and beaten to a pulp.

Do as you choose.

I concur. 15k is per manual, I have never seen 30K. With the amount of miles I drive, I "qualify" for the annual oil change intervals. The first year I owned it, I still had 2 green lights left in the computer and about 10K rolled onto the odometer. So now I change it approx 2 times a year at 7500 miles. I use whatever is on sale. Either Castrol, Valvoline, and Mobil. I just did the oil change on the 4.4 and I actually used Pennzoil Platinum and OE filter.
