Can You Identify This BMW V8 Valve Cover???

While I was doing the valve cover gaskets over the past few days, I found I had a broken casting on the passenger side cover. So in the process of looking for a used valve cover, a friend handed me this, (obviously the wrong side). Since it was the wrong one, he asked me to stick it on eBay for him. But I noticed it is slightly different from the one on my 2002 X5. The only difference is the small tab coming off the back. Can someone tell me the exact application?

No markings on it that might be part numbers? Can you read anything from that barcode label?

It does say M62 and E38, (7 Series 1995-2001) but I'm wondering if it's all of those years, and if it will apply to 5 series and or X5s. Clearly different than my 2002 X5...but that still leaves a lot of V8 cars of various years.
