New to me X5 - Love it - but have a question......

Hi everyone,

Well the new (to me) X5 arrived a few weeks ago and I love it.

The 3.0d coupled to the 6 sp auto is a dream and the whole package is as tight as a drum. Considering it has 80k's on the odometer and is a 6 year old car, she's in amazing condition!! Happy days!!!

Took her for a trip to the south west of Western Australia (great wine region for anyone interested) for the weekend and she's returning 7.2ltrs/100 k's (32.6 Mpg) which is great for such a big car. Even around town she's doing under 9. In short, I'm stoked so far!!

Had a CK3000 bluetooth, the iConnect iPhone/Pod connection and steering wheel interface put in the other day and they work an absolute treat!! Was a shame that the generic PDC kit couldn't be fitted due to a metal crash bar immediately behind the bumper bar. Anyone know a way around that??

I have only two things I've noticed which are bugging me.

The first is a slight creak/groan in the drivers electric sports seat when cornering, braking and taking off from a stand still. The seat feels entirely solid so I think the frame and gearing is ok and it probably just needs a good grease and tighten up?

I've run a search on this, but have only found info for other cars and seats. Any one got any suggestions?? I am somewhat handy on the tools, so will be looking to do that job myself, but would like to see what I am up for ahead of time. Anyone got a link perhaps??

The other gripe is the chirping blower fan. Exactly the symptoms described by other members, so am confident that's what it is, but it is only really an issue with the radio off, which happens very irregularly in my trucks anyway. I think I'll learn to live with it unless it gets really bad. A chirping fan motor is nothing compared to dash creaks and rattles which can occur once dash's have been out and replaced.

Other than that, it's a great truck and I'm very happy with it!!

Anyway, enough from me......

One very happy man!!!
