Anyone who installed AFE intake, please answer my questions!

Hello,

I just got AFE intake today and installed it. (it was really easy installation which took less than 30 mins)

how's your intake sound?
mine, at low rpm, it sounds like a very loud snoring. - loud enought to turn someone's vehicle alarm

Never heard this snoring sounds when I had a CAI in my 3 series,
all I could hear was inhale sounds and I liked it alot.

but this AFE intake makes really loud snoring sounds and kinda bothering me
so I was just wondering if it's a normal sound or have something wrong with my intake?

Thank you

At low RPM (under 2.5k) I can't really hear the intake noise, let alone setting off car alarm. Stepping on the throttle however will unleash a low freq. whooshing noise.

The only thing I can recommend is that you recheck your hose clamps. I'm not sure what you mean by "snoring" but there is a whooshing sound and you can hear the air drawing in.

ok, I did test drives little longer today,

my previous explain wasn't clear and here are more details.

double checked hose clamps, every clamps were secured
that "snoring sound" is more like rattling sound - like diesel engine.
hear that sounds when I increse speed from 0 - around 35mph.
after 40mph, I don't hear that rattling sound anymore.

also double checked intake housing in case, but nothing wrong.

is it normal situation?

I double checked today, didn't hear any sounds at low rpm,

but once I increase speed (put higher than 3k rpms), can hear intake sound.

one thing I'm wondering is, dose your sound like rattling as diesel engine or just like whooshing sound?

I checked the shield also, all screws were tighten up and nothing was hitting or touching it.
