Manual to electrical seats swap-memory and seat heating not functioning

Hi there,

I am Jan from Holland, bought myself a 2001 E53 3.0i, which was originally equipped with manual seats.
The original seats had seat heating and all functioning well.

I bought a electrical interior (not comfort) and replaced the manual seats by the electrical.
First nothing worked so searched and found out in several threads about the missing relay.
First tried Helmut's emergency wire :-) and the seats started working.
However; the seat heating is not functioning and the memory of the drivers seat doesn't work.
I found the missing relay and installed it.
Still the seat heating and memory are not functioning.
Any idea's?
Are there electrical seats available without seat heating?? That would explain why it doesn't function.......

Thanks for help

Hi,

I was told that the seats are a seperate system which needs power only for functioning. So when your seat memory isn't working it is a problem of the seat alone. I did the same you did and after having power at the seats all worked.
For the heating .... no idea. My new seats had that option and after changing the module in the middle console all was up and running.

Good luck

I have a PDF for seat heating retrofit for E90 - i did not read it (too lazy) but if you want it for your reference, I can email it to you, about 1.5-2Mb file...

EDIT: removed my personal email address
