Have any of you replaced their AC/Heater blower fan?

I've been having intermittent chirping from the blower fan so I got a new one. Just curious how difficult it is to replace. Thanks.

Search and you will find the answers.
But, no it's not easy. The entire dash has to come come out.

The chirping could be from the sampler fan in the climate control unit. Take out unit. Take off cover. Clean sampler fan. You can try compressed air into one of the vent holes. Might work.

I am guessing the I have the same noise you do. Sounds like something spinning is ratteling around behind the A/C Heat Controller. Seems to happen on cold mornings so far....even before I get the key in the ignition. Once I get it all heated up inside the noise goes away.

What is the "sampler fan"? Can you get replacements for less than a million bux?

Supposedly you can't get this stupid fan. What I have done before is get a low mileage junk unit and swap em out. A good cleaning is all it needs. But when you inspect it, make sure it doesn't have any knicks on it's contact parts. You will see what I mean once you take it out.

Sampler fan draws air into that climate control unit. It is to measure temperature to adjust the climate control.

So far I have been able to clean it on 3 out of 4 BMW I've maintained. One was chipped so I got another from the scrappers.

Oh, if you smoke in the car, it is more prone to get dirty. My 3 of those bimmers were my brothers, who smokes in the car. So....
