Mystery hard line front engine 06 4.4
HiWhere does this go? I have searched xoutpost.com, realoem.com and Google. It is just hanging out at the front of driver's cylinder head. It is a rigid line with a squared bend at end. See picture Tia |

I believe that's a vent/breather from the transfer case. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...um-line-2.html

Thanks just bizarre that it just dumps there.

It doesn't just "dump". There is not enough volume in the tfr case to produce a liquid output at that point - it is merely to allow pressure normalisation as temps change within the tfr case.

As Anthony said it is for. It is raised high in the engine bay to prevent water from entering while driving through deeper water.
