You ever have this feeling?

last week I was driving home from college around 9pm.
good song came on the radio and my dsp audio sounded nicely.
You fall into a trance and just want to fly... hit the gas and feel the adrenaline... and than you see a deer come out of no where!.
yeah im young and stupid. it happends.

no seat belt on??? alex, you reduced your chances of surviing a mild impact by several times - why do you think race drivers use a 5-point harness? we are not race drivers, so we do away with a 3-point belt... since you are driving your car as it should be driven, you should make sure that you are not bouncing inside the car, dude... take it from me, I am not a race car driver but evasive driving was part of my training - you want everyone in your car secured... remember the Star from the Hire series?... and how she bounced inside th car...

unless, the seat belt indicator is faulty, and you are properly restrained... then, my apologies...

I actually drive slow and obey the laws.
Yes, I remember from all those short clips Clive Owen always had a seat belt on. From now on I will buckle up. I just wish the belt was more comfortable. And the fact that its a suv makes me feel safe during front collisions. I've been in two wrecks before, both buckled times buckled up. after that I never buckled up. from now on i will maintain safety as a high priority and make sure the driver and passengers are properly restrained.

Yes 3.0 isnt that fast, but that doesn't make it weak. I have not raced it. But it does feel quick sometimes on short bursts.

I am looking at a z3 or z4 for the future as a second car for fun and speed.

Just because you're in an SUV doesn't make it any safer during a collision if you're not buckled in. Vehicle size is a false sense of security. Without seatbelts, you can easily go through the windshield in a frontal collision or get a good "punch" from the air bag. I've gotten so used to using seat belts that it feels weird driving or riding without them.

Just buckle up and be safe.

I can't believe I've read that and someone was serious about it. Physics is physics. Unrestrained, you absolutely will fully continue in the previous path of your vehicle even as its direction or momentum radically changes. No matter how big it is.

You are never, ever safe in ANY automobile or truck of ANY size without a seat belt. The infinitesimally small percentage or incidents that idiots might say proves otherwise simply does not hold up to the statistics. A seat belt is comfortable once you get used to it. I can't imagine sitting in a car without being buckled.

I helped extricate a guy who was not restrained. I witnessed what happened to him when he hit a telephone pole. He flew forward- his direction of impact- shattered the windscreen with his face and then disappeared as the automobile's rear wheels lifted off the ground.

I was the first guy there and STILL couldn't find him. It took another guy and I to pry open his front door before we saw him. He was in a little ball under the dash. When he was removed by the paramedics, I noticed that his feet were smaller than my hands. I thought that was unusual until I realized that they'd been crushed into little balls at the end of his broken legs.

A second time, I watched a guy avoid a collision as someone pulled in front of him. He swerved towards and hit the curb. His car flipped sideways and was caught by a hydrant through the rear window. The hydrant stopped the 30mph slide so abruptly that I found the unrestrained driver wedged between his passenger windscreen and dashboard.

You think either of these guys were 'comfortable' ever again?

Sorry to be so tough, but I am seriously surprised to see this thought expressed in 2012. Don't want to harangue you or start it for others. Just do not want to hear you're in a ball at the base of your X5's steering wheel.
