Rear camber kit install

This is an old debate but since I couldn't get more than 30k on a set of rear tires (315/20) I was considering the camber kit after I just put new tires on.

Looking at the content of the kit I am not sure where these bushings go.

Here is a good document you might like reading:

Check page 24 for X5 specific.

http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/BMW_docs/x5align.pdf

This is the camber kit:

Would these be both bushings on part 15 on the diagram below?

You are right. I fixed the link.
My camber for some reason the alignment shop couldn't get it lower than -1.8 on one side. All the bushing was replaced other than the camber one which is part of part 15. The guy said that if he could get it close to -1 or so the tire wear is not visible. I am not sure if I should get the kit. I get about two years on rears though...

So we have a $300+ version and a $20 version. Please tell my why I should buy the K-Mac versus the cheaper option. I know they are totally different products, but will the cheaper version be effective and more importantly... safe?

Have you refreshed anything else in the rear end? There are several wear items there that affect camber and toe; if you're getting abnormally high wear on the rear tires (I'm guessing they're wearing on the inside edges, since you're going after camber) toe is actually the more likely culprit. I've got the parts on hand to do a near complete refresh on mine; ball joint (33326767748), integral link (33326770749), guiding suspension link (33326774796) and wishbone (L-33326770859, R-33326770860). If you haven't replaced any of those parts, putting a camber kit on it might be a waste of time & money.

Here's a couple of threads with good info on suspension bits:
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...uspension.html
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...l-carrier.html

There are probably a lot more threads around; search is our friend.

The bolt kit is for the front...

The kmac kit looks like there is nothing to hold the camber where you set it.

Guys,

somehow wondering what your problem is. I have just changed my winter tires - they were 2 years old - and when inspecting the old ones I saw that they are all (really all) worn the same. Absolutely exactly the same. This was not the case always but since my BMW dealer has measured and adjusted the axes all is good.

BR, Helmuth

No sir, only 255/55 R18. Is that the difference?
Edit: Winter: 235 on 17" rims. Anyway too wide in real snow conditions.

Best, Helmuth
