BMW X5 3.0D Exclusive E53 Smoking

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum. I have a 06 plate BMW x5 3.0D Exclusive which has been running fine but the other day I noticed when I parked up after a short journey there was smoke coming up by the passenger door. I took a look underneath and the smoke was coming up from the middle of the car from behind the front axle.

I can't see any further because of the undertray and it's only an intermitant issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jag

Was it a cold day? It's almost certainly the Webasto diesel heater warming up the engine.

It was a cold day so is this something that I need to get looked at or is it normal behaviour?

Member Bargain Bucket ,is giving you good advice!Could be the Webasto heater, which has its own exhaust outlet gas pipe and is located under the passengers seat (this on a RHD car!).So ,this will be normal .
Apart from this, you need to give us more feedback! What colour smoke and smell, is it?

It was white smoke but there wasn't any significant smell to it if that helps. The smoke itself did linger for a bit but like I said no real odour or colour.
