What the.....??? My rear wiper motor assy just "broke off"

Sigh. 2 little plastic tabs was apparently deemed sufficient. Words fail me.......

Holy shit. How did that happen anyway?

I took mine out once when screwing with my latch. I could have sworn mine was steel, sitting on rubber mounts.

Rubber mounts on steel sleeves, all looking good. Motor assy just rattling to and fro hanging from the wiper shaft. Was putting stuff in the back and noticed the wiper arm assy at a weird angle/orientation. Put a hand on the arm and it was, "Holy Bad Timing, Batman! It's Winter out here!". Plus I was working on my next controversial mod

I put a plug in the wiper hole on the window, and have the thing out on the bench. The assy is riveted together, which sucks. Bolts or screws would haven given options for possibly making replacement brackets fastened to the mechanism.

Grrrrrrr.........

BMW with it's bullshit plastic crap parts. They just don't make em like they used too. Maybe I should take that shit out and glue a metal backing plate to it? I hate taking off that hatch trim. Pain in the ass.

I figured out how I'm going to make a replacement bracket assy. I'll post a pic or 3 of my result when that's done. Might take a week or so; lots going on, but it'll get done.

Keep us updated. Once you do that. I might do it as well before it breaks.

If you just want a new motor I've got one from my old E53 just sitting around in a box in my garage that I'm willing to sell. If you want to take it off my hands, its yours - just shoot me a PM
