X5 - First Aid Kit mounting and installation
I'm attempting to mount the BMW First Aid Box (52 10 7 044 958) using the Bracket First Aid (52 10 045 018) to hold the First Aid Kit (82 11 1 469 062). After multiple trips to the dealer I am unable to identify what fasteners are specified to attach the bracket to the seat. Dealer parts has no solution, recommended or suggested. Service suggested an expanding rivet. None specified.
So, I am turning to the experts. What fasteners should be used the mount the bracket to the bottom of the seat? So far I have tried the following: 51 47 1 919 209 - too big 52 10 1 873 544 - too short See diagram items 7, 8, 9 |

FSETH - Thanks for the pointer.
I searched before posting, but wasn't able to locate. Still doesn't return when I search. Suggestions for better returns? |

You should be able to click on the link, but if not the part number for the bolts you need is 51-16-8-220-001.

I believe P/N 51-16-8-220-001 are the correct fasteners. 07-14-9-169-302 should work too.

Meister beat me to it. The part # should have been in the link I provided as well.

Thanks guys.
I gotta say, it is very frustrating when the dealer sells the kit, the box and the mounting bracket, but has no idea on the mounting hardware. |

It's not like those guys at parts counter are super trained. I had too many instances of wrong ordered parts that I learned to avoid the dealer.

yeah, even with those "fasteners" (fancy name for a bolt), you still need to tap a thread...
I went to Home Depot, got myself chubby self-cutting screws (the ones that cut their way into metal hole) and was done in 10 minutes... did the same for the fire extinguisher on the driver's side voila!!! |
