Trans Harness Replace / Repair

HowTo-> Electrical: Transmission Position Switch Rebuild

Anyone done this procedure? Is it pretty much plug and play? Wondering if I should repair or replace. I'm fairly certain the seal on mine has been breached and is shorting out when moisture gets in there. Perhaps cleaning the contacts and a heavy dose of silicon are in order. My symptoms sounds almost exactly the same as what was described in the link above:

Some confusion here. For the 5HP24 the inhibitor switch and the wiring harness are completely different components


Internal wiring harness





Inhibitor switch (Transmission position switch)

The video is for an entirely different transmission (6HP26) which has neither an internal wiring harness nor an external inhibitor switch.

Nice this helps big time! I assume the seal on the connector is what might be my issue. I can plainly see where it is located now )

You would generally get a P0705 DTC for an inhibitor switch fault. The switch also has internal lip seals that seal between the switch housing and the selector shaft which can leak.



It’s easy enough to test the switch function with a multimeter :
