Cheap 4.8is near me
Check this out, a 4.8 for under $12k. Is the mileage the issue? In my mind, a well maintained higher mileage car is a better choice than a ragged low mileage one. It will be interesting to see where the 4.6/4.8 market bottoms out. I hope the scarcity of these models holds the value stronger than the 3.0 and 4.4. As enthusiasts, we see the value in the rarity, performance increase, and styling changes. My question is, does the general public feel the same way? Even still, getting into a 4.8 like this will cost you far less than trying out a newer Merc, Porsche, RR, Audi, Infinity or Lexus. These are the last of the DIY sport SUVs, with parts availability similar to the E39. The E53 and especially the IS models do a lot in the emotion department, driving them is a joy. I don't get that with the newer, more numb SUVs. A relative bargain, it would seem. Any input?

It's a a snow belt car and with 168,000 miles it wasn't a garage queen. I brought my E53 from a Florida Owner.

That is a Clean Looking X...as far as mileage wise...if most maintenance were done and preventative was corrected.then mileage to me is just miles...my concern is how did they took care of the car...i just hope they have all reciepts at when they did all the maintenance to proof the car was being maintained..other than that...car is clean from the pics.....4.8is rare beast..

If the original owners followed the recommended oil change BY BMW that would be 15,000 miles between changes, and if they brought it in at 7500, they were probably told that the "Free Maintenance" is not perform at 7,500 miles but if they wanted the oil change they will have to cough up approx $250 (7 litre of 5w30 full synthetic, plus oil filter plus 1 hour tech time plus disposal of hazmat, plus other consumable) so most original owners or CPO will just take a past.
I don't know about you but I would not like to buy a car in which the oil was left in for 15,000 miles between changes. |

I'd say it's worth looking into if it's close to you no loss if you discover that it's a POS but if it's clean and well maintained... maybe the owner just wants to unload it...

I'm not interested in it but would happily test drive it if anyone was.
