range of motion of outer cv joint/cv boot

Happy new year all, ok i am being pedantic as usual and powers1 gave me the solution to my problem but i tried and couldn't do it, ok here is the issue outer cv boot replaced, but the clap on the inner side of boot is pretty close to boot so was worried that during driving it would 'dig' into boot and tear it....powers1 kindly suggested i bend back the protruding clip to give it clearance from the boot but this was impossible....best i idea i had was to get some heat wrap the type used for cabling and 'fit' it over the protruding part of clip so if rubber 'digs' into rubber would be better than metal rubbing into rubber boot......what i would like to know if how much flex is there on the that end of the outer boot that i am worried about....?i inspected it again and there seemed to be no wear at all where the clip 'may' touch the rubber boot...I am I pedantic or what?

don't know how to delete, but this thread is a bit different, want to know how much movement the boot has? and is it only up and down as far as the suspension flexes max....

Request admin to delete it ...and thread is still about your cv boot issue, irrespective of the questions you may have !
Hope my reply in your original thread was useful for you?
