LED Reverse Lights Installed

After seeing some newer vehicle's with higher lumen reverse lighting I decided the E53 needed an upgrade.

I just installed a pair of these omnidirectional LED bulbs....

They fit in the bulb holder well and were small enough diameter to fit the opening in the reflector.

Here are some stock shots before the swap

Side By side LED VS Stock

All LED

E53 Disco Style

They are much much brighter than stock bulbs. They look crispy and fresh and they call more attention to my SAV as I'm reversing out of parking spaces making a collision a bit less likely as well.
It's a win win mod for sure!

I also really like it for the light output when used with the follow me home feature.
I coded my follow me home settings to trigger my LED lic plate and LED Reverse on while exiting for 90sec. and it really lights up the rear of the vehicle.

One thing to mention to those of you considering the mod. Make sure to code the SAV to turn of check control on the LCM for the reverse bulbs or they will strobe on start up and possibly randomly depending on the LCM/Check Control settings.
It will make the bulbs fail prematurely and attract undue attention and possibly a ticket.

Unfortunately no..... It might throw an error and it does flash the lights on start up when the check control tests the bulbs.

I used a laptop, interface cable and special coding software to code the LCM to eliminate any errors or flashing from the check control system.

Nice. Just ordered. How is it during the day? I'd be worried that its not as noticeable during the day.

Eh, I have yet to find an LED that's actually brighter than a stock 7506 bulb. They LOOK brighter until you put a stock bulb in one and an LED in the other.

So I did what any sane person would do: I put 15W HIDs in my reverse lights. They are WAY brighter than the LEDs or halogens.
