I have leds as my reverse lights too. Mine are a bit different though, much much brighter. I'm running 25w projector leds as my reverse lights.

I will go take pictures tonight! as some of you know, I started selling H8 angel eyes recently, so I also got the brightest 1156 projector leds.

They are similar design as that on the ebay link, but I'll take pictures later and post.

I will measure it with a light meter at work on monday and get post which has higher lumens. I doubt it's going to be the stock bulb.

Here is a side by side.... Drivers side LED Passenger is stock.

Your HID does sound nice...I almost put them in my E39 but I remember forum members that did the retrofit complaining about melted housings and harnesses.

A fresh 7506 was brighter for sure. This was 2 years ago, but I still haven't had anything brighter than the HID. The trick with HID reverse lights is to use a 15W kit. A 35W kit would easily melt the housing, while a 15W lights up nicely and doesn't melt anything. I've had HIDs in the reverse lights for over a year, and no problems. I've also left them on for extended periods of time with no problems.
