carbon wrap and plastidip interior

Hi everyone, I got around to tinkering with my interior now that I'm on college break.

Carbon fiber is very hard to wrap in some cases. Even with heat gun, hair dryer to stretch in some cases.

I'm going for a two tone black and tan look. I wish it was originally black.

I plastidipped my door handles as they started to flake. And plastidip is also a pain, I thought it would be easier. The way the can works. It splatters all over and uneven.

I will have to tear apart my center console and rewrap the thing as the curves, are hard to get even stretched it will leave lines.

here are some teaser pics.

Neat. Were the pieces pre-cut? Whats up with the fiber orientation on the CD player cover?

Not bad for first attempt.
Plasti-Dip is very forgiving stuff, IMO.

nice work! want to give me some pointers doing the center part? I have everything wrapped except for the middle. Seems a bit hard/time consuming. Did you take out the middle trim instead?

You help me with coding and I'll help you with wrap

It took me maybe 10-15 minutes for center. I might just make a video of wrapping the center. Its very tricky. that curve toward the center is a pain. No way of doing it without making a cut.

You need to take the centre console out. it is more than possible to do the centre console with one piece of di-noc and it will make it alot easier getting a friend to help you, one blows the heat gun and the other smoothes it over.

^ this
I DI-NOCd my interior last winter and it still looks great. I wouldn't do the center without removing the console. It's too complicated to do correctly while it's in the vehicle. It's a PITA to take the console out but the results are well worth it and since the film is wrapped completely under all of the edges, it can't peel up.

You can do it with one piece but it's pretty hard. It took me two tries and even then there are two "little" mistakes that I let slide because I didn't feel like re-wrapping a third time. Use plenty of heat and don't stretch it too far. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube on how to do it... I'd watch a bunch before doing it... here's one from Bimian showing how to wrap the e53 steering wheel trim: Bimmian.com 3M DI-NOC - Carbon Fiber Wrap - YouTube
