Was this a fair deal for a repair on my X5?
2005 X5 3.0i 89Kmiles
Chicago area where's it's been mighty cold This is a followup to my earlier post below. I was first quoted $425. He ended up charging me $650 and told me it took many hours of labor. I admit it was a huge mess with oil everywhere and cleanup alone must've taken a few hours. This is what was included: 1 return $36 1 vent hose $24 1 connect $33 1 valve $28 1 pressure valve $80 1 belt $35 1 belt $52 7 qts of synthetic oil $50 Total w/Tax: $338 labor to replace pressure valve $280 Grand Total: $650 Good or bad deal for a non DIY guy? ************************************ Wifey came home in panic telling me to come out to the garage. Heavy smoke coming out of the engine and I thought it was on fire. I opened the hood to see oil has leaked all over the engine and it's a huge mess. Took it to my trusty mechanic who thoroughly checked it out. He tells me the oil separator is clogged. He's an honest guy who usually charges very little compared to other shops. What is the average cost for a repair/replacement like this? |
