Angry TRANS SAFE MODE PROBLEMS

A week ago while driving my 2003 x5 4.4 , miles 260 thousand miles and running strong my dash board lit up saying trans safe mode.I did a little research trying to solve the problem. I started by changing the transmission thermostat which wasn't working. Then i change the transmission cooler which also was bad .Problem is that after driving for about a hour the Xs goes back into trans safe mode. Can anyone help me with this problem. I dont have a clue

2003 4.4, 260K miles... trans failsafe, you replaced the transmission thermostat, then transmission cooler... both of them were bad but replacement did not resolve the issue, so we can speculate that they were bad for a period of time... and while they were bad, something else may have gone bad as a result of them being bad, or they were bad because of something else is still bad and causing the failsafe...

it seems that you have many unknown things in your transmission that probably are bad: from the tranny fluid to planetary gears to lock converter to who knows what else...

for proper help, you will need to come with AS MUCH information as possible... why did yo go and change the tranny thermostat? it is not the first thing people usually reach out to change... did you observe something? did somebody ran diagnostics? did you read out the errors that the computer is storing in its modules?

please try to read the errors, and if possible, have a printout that you can post... if you do not have the software yourself, you can get it done at a dealer (very expensive proposition), indy (less expensive), or buy the sw/hw and scan the car yourself (about $50) with the scan printout, somebody on this forum might be able to come up with some help...
