Staggered tire setup

Note: I have read some threads about staggered tire setup, rolling diameters, revs per mile and tolerances when it comes to stress on the transfer case.

I need to purchase a new set of rear tires for a 11" x 22" rim.

The front wheels are 9.5" x 22" wrapped in 285/35-22 Toyo Proxy ST tires.

I previously had 315/30-22 Toyo's on the rear. Unfortunately this model of tire is now discontinued. And this particular size seems to be very rare, and very expensive.

- Will a 285/35-22 tire fit a 11"x 22" rim? Some sources say this tire fits a 9.5-10.5" rim some say 9.5-11.
- Due to the discontinued tire issue, I will be using a different tire model on the rear. If it turns out this is a very bad idea, then I will not be mounting these rims at all. I don't want to pay for 4 new tires. I understand different brands might differ in overall diameters, this data may be difficult to find.
- The front tires have more than 80% tread left.

Here are some calculations between the stock tire, 285, and 315: from this calculator http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecal...?action=submit

Stock - 235/65 R17 : Overall diam- 29.02, Revs/mile- 716.7
Current front 285/35 R22: Overall diam- 29.85, Revs/mile- 696.8
Old rear 315/30 R22: Overall diam- 29.44, Revs/mile- 406.5

I am not clear on the tolerance numbers. Am I looking for 1-2% max tolerance between front and rear diameters? Revs per mile? Stock wheel diameter and rev diameter compared to after market wheels etc.

I guess, I really want to know if I can fit a 285/35 tire on the 11" rim. This will probably be my best shot at matching the fronts without buying new front tires. If not what are my other options for tire sizes for this rim and front tire combo?

Thank you for any guidance,
