you can't use the remote when the engine is running, the system should prevent it. but the doors can lock when you start driving and exceed certain speed, usually it is 16 kmh but can be set for other values. and when your doors locked when you drive-away, it is a "single lock", when you use the remote to lock the car, it is a "double lock"... double lock - you can not open the doors from inside, single lock, you can open the doors, all BMWs have the same double tug - you pull handle first time, it opens up the "plunger", you pull the handle second time, it opens door ajar...

you definetely have some issues with the driver's door lock sticking, but you need to read up on the operation of the locking system of the car, as there are three systems involved in locking your car (that's why these cars can't be driven away that easily, you need a flat bed to steal one of these, or a key).

do a search on the forum for the double locking, read up, so you are familiar with the cause and effect of your actions...

and we will get to the root problem of your lazy lock...

I am familiar with the double locking. The passenger door functions like that and my mothers x5 which I am familiar with is normal like that. But thank you for your help and I will definitely continue scouring the forums and the internet for information! Thanks again!

cool, so you are not a rookie!!!

your lazy lock is one of two - gunked up lock inside door panel, or something electrical with the fuse - if the locks operate fine again after you play with the fuses, replace the questionable fuses anyways, see if the improves anything... see if you can clean the terminals where the fuses snap in, maybe with alcohol, maybe try some fine grid file...

now, you should post some pictures, dude!!!
