It would help to know what year and engine is in your X as the BMW Fault Codes are different for each engine.
If you have a standard OBD II scanner, scan the X with that and tell us what the codes are.

Thanks for posting, don't have any experience with a diesel engine and the Bentley that I have don't any have fault codes for a diesel engine, only codes for petrol engines.
