why is the entire video on road?

What is done to lift it? Program the bags all the way inflated? I dont think it has front bags...

What size tires are those, I see 305...

I would be half tempted to do it to mine if i could just program it up >$100 and then have a set off offroad rims/tires. for the winter...

Not a good idea, camber would be beyond adjustment limits and your X would eat CV joints/boots. I know this because I did it on a Coupe GT Quattro back in the '80.

It has bags on all 4 corners. Custom lift blocks were made to achieve a 1-2" lift. The tires are Dick Cepek 305/65R17. I have been following this build almost from the beginning.

I Couldnt find that in the thread.

Where do the lift blocks go? Does it eat CV Joints like posted above??

Just talked to them about the lift, they are in final stages of development and they may be available for sale soon.

He basically just explained it to me as a spacer that goes on the top of the strut where it mounts.

Sounds like something that would be easy enough to remove with it comes time to sell.

He also talked about how the CV angles were still very reasonable and they had that in mind when they developed them. They have logged thousands of miles and daily drive the x5 without CV issues...

I think this would be sick, Lift kit, wheel spacers and some mud terrains for the winter even....

Or would i be destroying the "sport" part of my 4.8IS??

With limited room for wheel articulation and no locking diffs; what you'll end up with is a BMW mall crawler.

Im willing to accept that. What practical reasons do we have for ANY of the aesthetic mods we do?

I ride motocross and snowboard so its in the "off road" setting all the time.

Would I ever rock crawl, mud bog, or hill climp my x5? NO

I will however drive the trail out to the staging area unload my bike and then do all of those things!!

Samething goes for a nice truck with lockers and everything, If i paid 60K for a nice truck I Wouldnt do anything it was built for...

Rather spend 4-5k on a rock crawler and trailer it out...

You seemed to have answered your own questions. lol I was gonna come in and type word for word what you did. I spoke to him as well on this, as I don't have air bags on my X5. So if I wanted spacers i'd need enough others to get the ball rolling. As they arent gonna R&D a 1 off piece.

Im pretty sure what they are building would work with air bags or springs. And he was talking about it like something that is close to going into production so things are looking promising...
