HOW TO START YOUR X5 USING THE NAVI BUTTON!

Ok, I don't know if someone did it before, but I searched the forum and nothing.

How to turn ON the engine using the right button of your NAVI screen? You have a few seconds to do that, be quick on the 2 last steps!

1 - Put a CODE in your NAVI and take off the key. (The CODE will be activated)

2 - Put the key again and TURN TO THE POSITION 1 (THE OBC will ask the CODE)

3 - Put the CODE until the last number. Don't forget to press the right button of NAVI after the last digit, but DO NOT PUSH THE DEACTIVATE BUTTON YET!

4 - Turn the key to the position 2 and then try the position 3 to start the engine (you will hear that CODE ASK GONG) and the engine will not start yet!

5 - PUSH DEACTIVATED on NAVI and... VOILĄ, the engine will START UP!

How To Vid (sorry my english)

Has anyone tried this before? Of course this is one of those hidden things that we discover by chance, but it's fun to see the faces of friends when the engine start through the button, !

Hug

Chris

Hey mate, sorry my bad english.
When you turn off you car, before you take out the key, the screen of your stereo shows a CODE option, no? This works with the key in position 1, I guess.
I'm uploading a vid soon...

this will only work with 4.4 x5's the early ones, I bleieve had a code option to disable the starter.

what you are doing is this.

when you turn the key to start the car the DME will crank the motor for a set amount of time. BUT... since there is a code that you entered the signal will not be sent to the starter. if during this amount of time the motor is counting down to crank you enter this code the signal will be sent to starter.

seems kinda pointless will all those steps just to push a button to start the car..

If you have the high MID or Nav...the OBC has an additional "CODE" theft feature that prevents those that have access to your keys from being able to start the car. It is basically the same EWS lock out of starter/fuel/ignition...except it adds those with a working key to the list...and they can only start the car if they know the exact code that was entered.

This feature is explained in the owners manual...and if you missed it (or forgot about it)...it's easily overlooked since the CODE can only be entered when the ignition is in POSITION 1. That is the only time you will see "CODE" highlighted in the MID or on the NAV screen:

(Instructions for those with a MID)

(you can see the "CODE" & "SET" button selections in the MID. Once you press the BC button, then the CODE button...you will see the option to select the 0-9 soft key buttons to enter the number of your choice from 0000-9999)

(you can see "CODE" in the Nav image below...if ignition is in position 1, "CODE" is selectable and you'd follow the same instructions as for the MID above....DO NOT FORGET THE CODE NUMBER YOU ENTERED...YOU'LL WON'T BE ABLE TO START YOUR VEHICLE!!!!!!)
