Tranny and P0720

So I'm getting code P0720 but no "trans fail safe" mode. Although I think it's stuck in 4th gear. Reverse gear is normal. I changed the input and output speed sensors already, no luck. This is my second tranny with only 30,000 miles on it. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. My tranny started slipping so I did a drain and fill. It was working fine for a week and now this dumb code and failsafe mode! Do I change the sensor?

How are you scanning the X? Are you using a generic OBD II scanner? Are you using a scanner developed specifically for the BM Trouble U?

Are you towing a semi trailer, helping the locomotives out at the train yard or moonlighting as a wrecker? Something just doesn't add up, unless you got a bad re-build tranny after the first one went boom.

I am using the bavarian technic cable and software. It says that I have a bad speed sensor in the tranny. Should I replace it and see if it is fixed?

Yep, been there and done that. For your own sake, buy from a very reputable rebuilder/reconditioner. If you can get a price on reco from ZF themselves I would go with that.
My rebuilder in Australia did a shit job of mine...
