Was looking at the US websites, and have seen prices between $80 and $100 for genuine parts. Yes shipping adds a bit to it but one I saw will ship for $60 so I still save almost $200... The guy I spoke to in parts is going to ring around to see what he can do but not holding my breath for much of a better price. I want genuine and know it costs more, but this is feckin disgraceful...

actually if anyone over in the US wants to buy one, add a mark up for your time, and send it over to oz, you will make money and I will save - a win win!

mate your preaching to the converted, i needed a replacement bulb for the dash cluster, i couldn't read my total km, went to the dealer for a price check and was quoted $15 and some cents, when on ebay and bought the exact same part (Osram) for $3 and cents
even with shipping it was still cheaper, just had to wait a few days for it to arrive i actually bought 5 so i would have some spares |

Well Mr Parts Man has done well - he rang back to say he can get a non-logo same supplier part for $130... Quizzed him about it as don't want an inferior product and he said it was sweet. Should be in tomorrow
Will be giving it a thorough check before buying but I guess I won't really know until it's installed. |

Why don't you check the Australian Forum section.
It has been mentioned plenty of times where to buy cheap OEM parts (1/3 price of BMW) in Australia.

very true but in my case they only supply "mechanical" parts and not "cosmetic" so bulbs, side skirts and things like the cover for rear parking sensors and interior parts are still needing to be sourced OS

Have sent off a request to Parts Agent re an alternator I need. I have seen the site before but in the age of zero attention span, as it had no parts listed, let alone any prices, I drifted away. Will see what they come back with... |

The stealerships in Australia are all provided parts by the Stillwell Motor Group or SMG Parts. Buy from the states in bulk ECS, Pelican etc and get parts that are likely to go bad sooner or later and store them to save on postage. When you need a major part consider adding Spark Plugs, Filters, Belts, Thermostat, Hoses, Gaskets/Seals, Light bulbs, Wiper Blades to the order...... (just to name a few.)
Genuine BMW is cheaper in the USA than non-genuine in AUS You've saving yourself a lot of money in the long run......

I source from Amazon (US), ECS Tuning, FCP Euro, AutoAnything and Pelican Parts and bundle in all the consumables, project parts etc. I'll need for the foreseeable future. I've spent thousands of dollars on parts this way and will continue to do so. If the US store doesn't ship to AU, you can use a mail forwarder. I use shipito. It's also worth checking with your local independent service center (Southern BM, Nothern BM...) to see what they can do. Also check with the local independent European parts suppliers such as Imparts. |
