Thanks for the kind feedback guys!

The beast that flew past was a heavily modified Corvette. I believe it was a Z06 if I remember correctly. I spoke to the guy at the gas station he was a businessman from over your side of the pond he shipped it over just so he could take it round the Ring! Now that man has some big money and balls!

My car is standard except an X-Pipe and small custom back boxes which when getting the car remapped he said they are probably loosing me power so I plan on getting some different ones soon.

I didn't really find it to under-steer that much maybe a few times but There was a few moments where the rear jumped around but I think that was a bad combination of me letting off the throttle mid corner and it off balancing itself. I was running the standard Michelin Diamaris 20" staggered setup, I destroyed them in 4 laps especially the left hand side you couldn't even read the Michelin logo on the side it was so scrubbed.

I highly recommend driving the Ring if you ever come to Europe even if you use a hire car. It has everything a race track could ever need all in one.

Dang, you are one lucky SOB. Kudos to you for pushing your X like you did. The Ring is Mecca for the sport driver and you rocked it. Nice work.

Looks like a good time for sure! The video almost makes you forget about the ~6000 lbs you're chucking around those turns. Impressive indeed!

BMW E53 X5 4.6IS On Board Lap Of Nordschleife Nürburgring Bridge To Gantry 10th September 2012 - YouTube

This was my first ever track day and when watching it back I find parts in the video where I wish I kept the throttle down instead of letting off. This could be down to me not knowing the track I suppose but mann its soooo long.

Does anyone have a experience of The Ring?

Anyone have track experience in general can you give me any tips/advice about my driving. Did I take the right lines etc?

Thanks
James
Your video made my day. Absolutely fantastic.

If you are looking to really learn the ring, get in touch with RSR Nurburg. They host trackdays at both the ring and Spa. Ron Simmons is the owner. Great guy. It takes about 100 laps to remember the track, and about 1000 laps to really have it down. The minute you lose respect for the track is the time it bites--keep that in mind. The bikers there are also very aggravating--extreme tunnel vision. Just because you're in their mirror doesn't mean they see you.

Great video! Enjoyed riding along! Regardless of lines, you were running hard! I don't think I would have the stones to be going that hard the first time--good job. Hint, if you go there again look for the existing rubber marks. They show in your video mostly as shiny areas on the track. They will show you the best lines.

What exhaust is on the 4.6? My 4.4 does not sound like that and I would like it to

Thanks guys.

I'll look into RSR Nurburg I'm sure I saw their hire cars maybe? and see if they are hosting any days near when I plan on going next time. I did find that with the bikers too. I have it on another video lap when a biker cuts straight in front of me going through Adenau village corner without checking his mirrors, I literally had to jump on the brakes as hard as I could. Being a biker myself I have thought about taking my bike round there but some of the car drivers scare me as they over take whether you move out their way or not at least with my tank I have a bit of protection around me.

I don't know anything about track racing really as this was the first track I've been around. I just learnt a little bit from watching racing on TV or playing Grand Turismo lol

It has the resonator delete with an X-Pipe in it's place.
The rear boxes are cheap mild steel custom made by a local exhaust shop. They have rusted in under 2 years so I plan on going stainless next time.

Well done, mate!
It's amazing to see how our cars keep the line even with DSC off. Show more!
That external take was pure GT5, congrats.

Hug, Chris.

Awesome video. I love the switch to exterior view at ~7:40. Looks and sounds like a sweet rig. It's good to see someone putting the 4.8 to good use.

I hope to one day make it to the ring and take my future 4.8 on a local track for some fun.
