DSC, Fail safe, brake light help.

Hello Gents,
Having a little issue and want to see if someone can point me in the right direction.

Over the weekend I replaced front brakes and rotors on my 05' e53. I did not replace the sensor. It looked fine and seated back into the OEM pad tightly.
Everything worked great. Got the pads bedded etc. today I drove a short distance and the DSC light came on inactive and then the
Engine fail safe. Noticed the amber "brake" light came on as well.

Any ideas? I checked the sensor and its still in place. I'm gonna check voltage and alt output here in the next hour as I wait on a friend
To bring over a scanner.
Anyone go through this a day or two after replacing the brakes??

I have searched long and hard and find all kinds of things that can cause this, but I do not see where people have the amber brake light on as well.

Thanks for any help.

check the speed sensors, there are 4 of them, one at each corner... they are next to the brake sensors, and you may have disturbed the wiring - without the proper speed data, the engine and the trans will go into failsafe mode, as they can not properly determine what RPM to be matched to which gear...

check the wiring for the speed sensors...

Thank you. I will take a look.

I only recall one wire running to the left front caliper for the sensor that was mounted on the inside pad.

Right front had nothing.

Going to look again.

in the plastic housing for the brake sensor connector you will see another connector (i think it was blue), and that is the speed sensor connector - when you worked on the brakes, you may have pulled a wire from the speed sensor... also, the brake sensors are front left and rear right, the speed sensors are all four corners...

on a side note, when i change the brakes, since i don't trust my own skills to preserve the original brake sensor intact, i always change the brake sensor... this way, i don't have to pull the wheels again, to reinstall the brake sensor... i am just too lazy... lol...

I did see some wires running to a black box mounted on the fender well up by the strut? I don't think a disturbed these while installing pads, but I will check.
Friend came by with scanner. So I started the X to move in the bay and everything was back to normal. ? We checked it and the scanner came back with no codes.

So he leaves. Figured its just a freak thing? Then on the way home as I set in a drive threw the lights and warning reappear.

When you have this "brake" amber light on? Is it referring to the pad sensor I removed on the pad?

I did check the alt and battery. All is good there.

I want to ad that this second time it happened? I was in a drive through and I rolled forward by just releasing brake pedal to move up in line and that's when the warnings came back. So i am thinking the sensors.
Where does this sensor attach? I have yet to to remove the wheel and check again, but I know I only had one wire running to the caliper which is the pad sensor.

Well strange enough the X has been fine today. Other then my halo bulb going out :/ time for LED. got a new sensor just in case the problem returns. I changed the pads at 50% due to rotors being shot. So the sensor appeared to be fine. Has never made contact.
Still after these speed sensors. Thanks for the reply. I will update if the problem returns.

My .02.

Having just experienced a "engine failsafe, DSC,brake light " problem, I would recommend checking the codes. Searching the forums will lead to a multitude of "possibilities" which may be confusing and lead down the wrong path. It may be mere coincidence that this happened soon after changing the brake pads. Have your codes checked, then report back!

Your brake pad sensors are likely fine, they are reusable if you are careful with them.
