Red face My car doesn't START and NAV system doesn't POWER ON

Guys,

I am having problem with my E53.

I unlocked my car with the remote, turned the key into position 2, NAV system turned on and I unlocked the PIN. After 10 secs, the NAV system turned off and I tried to start the car but nothing.

I tried a few times to turn off the car, locked the car and re-unlock with the remote and tried to start the car but unsuccessful. The NAV system also doesn't power on.

Now, I cannot lock my car with the remote. If I turn the key into position 0, there is a loud beeping sound keeps going on under the hood. (I guess it is the beep from alarm). If I turn to position 1 or 2, the lights from glove box and trunk keep blinking.

What's wrong with my car? Is the battery low or dead or something else?

How much does an original battery cost? Can I get that from other stores besides dealer?

Please...! I really appreciate if someone here can give me some hints. Or else my car is stuck in my driveway.

Thanks!

battery... have youdone any work on the car recently? have you left the car on for a period of time without engine running?

get a solid jump start (solid - not from a little honda or toyota, but from another bimmer or a big, powerful truck), and see if you can start the engine...

then go to an autozone, or other store and find a battery that fits the car (about $100 from a generic retailer, or $300 from a dealer) - bear in mind that not all batteries are created equal, some are better, some are not...

My car was left for a few weeks. I am thinking is the problem with the battery but I'm just not sure! I will try to jump start this weekend and see.

Is the Duralast from Autozone good quality? They have the AGM battery for about $169.

Definitely sounds like the battery.

Duralast should be fine. No need to buy a $300 battery from BMW

Oh and you might not even need a new battery. Charge it up, let the car run for a little, and you should be fine

Thank you guys for the head up,

Just came back home and checked on the car that left on position 2 for 5 hours; turned to 0 position and lock the car with key and no more beeping noise.

If the battery is dead, I will definitely replace it. If I pull out the battery and bring it to Autozone, are they able to check the condition?

I drive this car occasionally, should I get the AGM battery? Does AGM help battery stay stronger?

do not leave the key in the ignition and let the battery die on you - the key will lose synchronization with the car and you will NEVER be able to use that key again...
