Front axle replacement cost

Hi everyone. Just wanted to get an idea what anyone has paided for front axle replacement, specifically left side. I was driving to work and suddenly car veered to the right and made a loud clunk noise. When i try to put in drive again car would make a loud grinding noise but not in neutral. Im assuming its the left drive axle.

Are you going to DIY or were looking for total cost with labor?

Sounds more like your front drive shaft (not axle) splines that connect to the transfer case are shot. Without more information, it's difficult to pinpoint the problem.
