SSS- 7 digit number to modules?

Anyone know where or what 7 digit number I need to code my EGS module?

Thanks!

More than likely it's either the last 7 digits of your VIN or the software number (do you have access to that)? If not, wait for someone that really knows the answer...I'm just guessing.

Thanks guys!

I'm going to give it another try this evening and take pics of what its asking. Was trying to update the tranny software or at least make sure it's the newest software available. I tried various combinations of the BMW part # (ie 34526768831) but, wouldn't accept it.
I'm using SSS/ progman with the USB/ OBDII connector. Not sure of the version but, will update as well.

Update-

I think I found where to find the 7 digit part # for a specific module. I searched online and saw a post on another forum and to use INPA, "identification" tab to find the module part number. Haven't had a chance to confirm this but, will give it a try and update soon!

If I'm not mistaken, BMW part numbers are 11 or 12 numbers. Usually the 7 digit number is your last 7 from your VIN. Certain modules store info. that are specific to your vehicle and those modules synchronize info.

In the GT1 DIS version I used, it discovers the vehicle and already knows the 7 VIN digits. I guess with SSS/Progman you have to manually enter them?

I actually tried to enter the last 7 of my vin and it would accept letters only numbers. Below is what I get for my EGS and DME.
Oddly enough, when updating the software on my ABS and Transfer Case module, it populated automatically with the 7 digit codes and completed the update.

Yeah, I never used SSS. I'm sure someone that has used it will know right away from that screen capture what its looking for.

That definitely doesn't look like it wants a VIN but a part number though.

Referring to this post?
EGS Update using SSS/Progman

Looks like, based on the last post, you can somehow select that you changed the module and it should then give you the proper number. At least that's my interpretation of that post.

Yep! Thats where i found the clue! On another post I saw where someone used PA Soft to get the 7 digit part # but, I noticed it also provided a 7 digit software # as well? I think I've seen where SSS asked for a part # and programmed # ?? I'll dive in more tonight and update...again. Lol!
