x5 slips/jerks in 5th gear at 30-40 miles speed

After putting a new motor(N62) in my 2005 x5 4.4 recently , I have noticed that transmission slips/jerks in 5th gear at 30-40 mils speed. I had the dealer look into this but was told transmission was fine. it happens frequently and consistently at the speeds i mentioned above. So i am sure the tech didnt really look into this carefully or is just blowing me off!

I didnt have this issue until they put the new engine. could they have messed up the transmission while installing the motor? Could it be from something other than transmission. BTW, I noticed lines coming from the engine not connected to anything? it that normal? did not see notice that with old motor.

thanks

Could be many different things (possibly) linked to the exchange engine work, perhaps not. Would be good to have your car plugged into a GT1 or similar diag. computer to read out error codes. As for lines coming from the engine not connected to anything, are these electric wires (which a diag. computer would indicate what might not be connected).

You likely paid a significant amount of money to have this done, so take it back to the shop and have your car "plugged in".

the "line" is a tubing...a friend told me that it could be suction or vaccum which is normally hidden....

I did take the car back to dealer..they said everything was ok.......although i had not pointed out the specifics( the speed/gear)

have escalated the issue to service manager...he will have it looked next week.
