HPS deployment running over a curb
My wife was driving and dropped her sunglasses. She reached over to pick them up and ran off the road over a curb in a rural area. The HPS airbag deployed. BMW assist contacted her and was great. They stayed with her till the Police arrived.
I had the vehicle towed home (2006 3.0 with just under 50k miles) and looked over the damage. The two passenger side wheels and tires are flat. The tires have holes torn in them. The right front wheel is pushed back an inch or two. The right rear tire might be a little back, hard to tell till I get it on a rack. The Passenger HPS deployed and tore the headliner in back. I am getting an oil (?) leak from what looks to be a bushing on the right front control arm. Fluid filled bushings? I put an extra set of wheels on the x5 and drove it up the street and back. The steering wheel is at a 45 degree angle. I know I can rebuild the front end, she will need a new headliner and hps airbag. Anyone out there replace their HPS or did you send them to the dealer/shop? My wife was shaken but fine, no one else was effected other than having to drive around a x5 till the tow truck could arrive.
