Any leaks in the intake? All hose clamps tight? Boost leaks kill power massively!
Talking between turbo and manifold.

Can you guide me through how to check if the vacuum/gas hoses are connected properly?
X5 sport is giving you good advice. It is a common issue .
Its easy to check the vaccum pipes.See the green sticker on the bottom left?Well, the vacuum reservoir is that slated plastic part ,above it.It has 2 vacuum pipes ,just check that they are both connected to the reservoir.
One of these pipes goes to the turbo solenoid and its common for mechanics to sometimes leave it unplugged and this obviously reduces performance ,as already explained by x5sport..

Thanks guys you are the best.

See attached images of my reservoir, one of the pipes is disconnected as you all predicted.

Take a look a the attached images, not sure if this has broken off or if i can just put it back in as i cannot find where it goes. What do you think?

giodog2000 couldn't have said it better myself.

This is an excellent forum with very helpful users, thank you all

Taking my car back to the garage now as they actually ripped one of the hoses and that broke part of the vaccuum tank so the hose cannot be re-connected. Will need a new part.

Hope they are able to fix this now.

Thank you once again to all of you.

Tommy

They broke the connector end on the right side of the vac reservoir.Make them get you a new part.Temporarily, you can just disconnect the vac pipe on the left and join it the the broken right vac pipe,as the broken plastic will fit inside the other pipe!Alternatively, just get a hard plastic pipe that will fit in between both vac pipes and you will have 100% power again..The reservoir tank ,not really needed...

Well guys thanks for all your help.

The garage has patched it up whilst they wait for the original BMW part to replace.

Glad you sorted that out. I am losing trust in mechanics more and more with stories like this and after the headaches I have gone through when getting my X5 worked on.

I try to do as much as possible myself now.
