I have lowered and added spacers. After much research I went with Turner Motorsports 18 mm spacers. My Style 87 wheels are now just short of flush to fenders. Any wider and I would be throwing junk on the side of the X. There have been many discussions about spacers. Many speak in threads you can seard of 20-25mm spacers but it is always difficult to sort out what wheels they have, if they did both ends the same and what X they have so that it is direct comparison to yours. I did both the same to keep the same stagger. I lowered mine by going with H&R springs and adjustable sensing rods. The sensing rods replace the fixed length rods and 'fool' the suspension to think it is at the stock level though it is lowered just over 1.5". Front is the same drop. Whatever spacers you choose be sure they bolt to the hub and and come with longer lug nuts. I liked the original exhaust but I love the new exhaust. There are also threads where some have changed just the muffler, just eliminated the cat or added and X pipe into existing. Key is if you do anything be sure it does not create an exhaust drone at cruising speeds. If it doesn't, you will hear very little difference except when accelerating. There are several youtube videos of different exhaust options.

There are several cold air box options out there. I went with Dinan to maximize the addition air with a HF throttle body and HF MAF and engine software. Key is an air box that blocks off all heat from the engine, some don't. The air box will most likely deliver the biggest gain in HP and torque with engine software second even without the performance TB and HF MAF. Compare air box construction and use your best judgment or look for seek out actual user as claims of gains are from mild to wild.

Addition note on exhaust-- If you would like to hear other exhaust options there are several on youtube though none at cruising speed so you can hear if there is any drone or they necessitate noise canceling earphones.

Welcome!
Nice ride!
Roof rail delete is a must - makes the car look completely different.

If you ever decide to upgrade your exhaust - let me know as i am looking for getting a 4.8is exhaust myself...

Took some new pics with the roof rails off....not the gretest but you get the idea. Wheels will be done on Thursday ready for tires Friday. Called an Indy BMW guy here and he quoted me $500 to do the reprogramming of the height adjustment, including a wheel alignment said 2 hours worth of scanning etc plus the alignment....not sure yet what route I'm going to go as I would like to switch back in winter. We will see how that goes.

Of course....new issues!! Door lock indicators wont go down and up in the door, they just stay up.

As well now it seems like when I turn off the X5 the navigation screen seems to stay on. Had to get back in turn key to ready position then off again for it to go to a full black screen....this concerns me, I mean it didn't seem like it was going to turn off. Maybe next tome I will wait longer before getting in. Anyone have this happen?

Well after 8 days I think she is looking much more presentable.Pics were taken at normal ride height. Had the summers put on after getting the Powder coat. I am replacing the rears with Conti DWS's as the current tires are at the end of the road.

Might try and do the grill and the vents in a gloss black plastidip as a weekend project see how it comes out....

Those small updates you did, and the wheels... BOOM!

Maybe I'm biased, silver and black is epic.
