On 'back-order' - what's the longest you've waited?

Hi Guys,

I've just tried to order a new bumper for the X5 (putting a 4.8is bumper on this time).
There was a drop in price recently of the 4.8is bumper and it seems they've now sold out and there are none available in UK, or all of Europe for that matter.

Just wondered, is it possible that BMW will stop making this part (51117146578) ? Or do they need to reach a certain number of orders to justify manufacturing a new batch?

I'll be in Munich tomorrow so I guess I could check there, but my local UK dealer usually gets parts in from Munich in 2 days so I believe him when he says that they're out

Does anyone have experience of how long 'on back-order' could last?
