Speedometer jumpy after pixel repair

So I just changed the ribbon cable and thought I was fairly successful, however upon reinstallation the speedo is jumpy. It works, and I thought I was careful not move or stress it, it just jumps both up and down instead of the typical smooth motion. Any thoughts? Think I ruined it? It's more of an annoyance than anything problem, but I'm also not sure it always has the right speed if it sticks and hasn't jumped into position.

when you reinstalled the cluster, there is no debris left that binds the needle? maybe a burst of air to clean up the area around the needle?

I had the exact same thought. I used the drilling method and bit of plastic were flung about. I used some keyboard duster (with straw as opposed to compressor fitting) and used some zip ties to raise gauge face and blew it out pretty good. Could not see any particles but also couldn't see much at all of the speedo stalk. Against my better judgement I also tried to lube it a bit. No change...
