SOFTWARE UPDATE: BMW DIS V57 OR GT1?

Hi All,

I have been having some issues with my E53 that jumps into first gear. I have been told to update the transmission software using BMW DIS V57 can someone set me on the right path here?

I already have the BMW Scanner 1.4 software and cable however i believe this cable will not work with the above software?

Does someone have a link for the latest version of the above software and know what cable i need to run it in order to fully update my car and most importantly the transmission software?

Thanks!

i'd like to know this as well, but I would like to back up a step:

how do i read what version i have? I got INPA, will it tell me somewhere there?

and the next question, what is the latest version?

in the Nav forum, we know the Nav versions and what they did/do and how to check the version number... wonder if similar info available somewhere about the tranny... and, for that matter of fact, the DME, perhaps...

SSS can tell you all the upgrades you need to do for all modules. You will see the actual and the recommended firmware.
I used SSS to find what modules require update and then WinKFP to upgrade the EGS and ECU.
How to use WinKFP for programming

Why WinKFP and not SSS to upgrade?
SSS takes a long time to run this process but it is user friendly.
WinKFP would do in a few minutes what SSS does in an 30-40-50 minutes... That why they recommend a charger when you use these tools.

I have come across this package on eBay it brings the cable required and all software.

Am i correct that using this i will be able to update all modules that need updating straight out of the box without have to get the firmware updates from anywhere else?

Thanks

Term, if I remember right WinKFP can show you as well the firmware you are at and what's for the upgrade. I have done this last year but I don't remember the exact steps (getting old). I will do it on my 2004 soon and try to document the procedure.
INPA gives you the version you are at as well and last time it was upgraded.

Sorry to reanimate a dead thread but, I am plagued by the 2-1 tranny jerk and wanted to know what is the best way of going about doing this? I have WinKFP. I don't have SSS. How difficult of a process is it? Also, in my research, I heard that you have to have the latest daten files for the E53. I have had no luck with locating / knowing what the latest files are. Hopefully one of you can shed some light on this for me. Thank you.
