I love everything about my new to me 4.6is X5 but one thing
I know it's been discussed and some like it and some not. I don't care if my X5 is going to get recognized on road as 4.6is or not. The oval round exhaust tips simply don't do it for me. Since X5 is black, I'll stick with chrome for nice contrast. if it was silver, I'd probably look for black chrome. ![]() Some preliminary measurements lead me to these: SILVERLINE CHROME Dipped Double Walled 3.0" OD Exhaust Tip ![]() ![]() While they're expensive, I will not buy crap at Pep Boys or similar and have them rust out in 2 weeks. Before I pull the trigger, I'll have to do more measuring. Hopefully, there are people who like the oval ones as mine will be for sale.

The 4.6/8is tips are the best tips bmw has ever made in my opinion.

have you looked at the 4.4i's dual tips/muffler? I think they look amazing on the vehicle and I'm sure there are guys willing to sell those. I myself love th elook of the 4 round tail pipes on the 4.4i but went with the 4.8iS system purely for the sound. I'm debating on trading tips (as I still have the 4.4i exhaust system) tho so I can go back to the 4 round tips too. I simply love that look

![]() I feel the same way with OP. That's the only thing I don't care for on 4.6is & 4.8is. I prefer dual round tips.

I'm also not interested in aftermarket (expensive!) mufflers. I like the sound of stock and I just need to find good looking SS T304 tips and weld them on.

Dual round tips can be nice...see Nissan GTR, but hese match up very well with the bits and pieces on the 4.6/8is.

if you go bigger than the factory 4.4i round tips, they will not fit on your muffler OR in the hole in the bumper, I believe. Also, removing a rear bumper cover, incase you ever need to, would be a HUGE PITA cause you'd be forced to drop your exhaust then as you will not have access to the two large torx bolts hidden up inside the bumper cover.

Looks like you are missing the cover that goes around the opening of the exhaust tips.
